Description
This arched corner bead with mesh is a PVC corner profile made for arches, with a glass fibre mesh wing on each face, sold in 2.5 m lengths. It goes on the curved external corners of an insulated facade, such as an arched window head, where a straight corner bead cannot follow the line. It sits in the Renders World corner bead range next to a plain arch profile and the straight corners.
What the Arched Corner Bead with Mesh Is
The shop's earlier address for this item named it as the Bella Plast BP10 S, and that address still leads here. Bella Plast makes the BP10 S in two lengths, 2500 mm and 3000 mm; the length sold here is the 2.5 m one. The maker's technical sheet describes it this way:
- Body: rigid PVC with plasticisers added for mechanical strength and UV stabilisers.
- Mesh: glass fibre mesh of 145 g/m², 100 mm wide on each side of the corner.
- Purpose: reinforcing and stabilising arched external corners in an insulation system with a thin-coat render.
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Length | 2.5 m (the maker also makes 3 m) |
| Body | Rigid PVC, UV stabilised |
| Mesh | Glass fibre, 145 g/m² |
| Mesh width | 100 mm on each side |
| Insulation | EPS or mineral wool boards |
| Not for fixing | Polyurethane (PU) foam |
Where It Goes on the Wall
Bella Plast puts the BP10 S on every rounded external corner of an insulated facade, and names the arched head over a window as the place it is most useful. The insulation behind it is EPS or mineral wool, and the corner is finished in the same thin-coat system as the rest of the wall. The maker gives no other use for it.
Two other profiles in the range are easy to mix up with it:
- A curve where no mesh wing is wanted: the plain white PVC arch without mesh is sold as a separate profile.
- A straight corner on the same wall: the straight PVC corner with mesh holds a straight arris; the arched corner bead with mesh is for the curved part only.
Fitting the Bead in One Pass with the Mesh
The method below is the one the maker gives for this bead:
- Spread the adhesive made for bedding glass mesh on EPS or mineral wool evenly over the boards with a trowel.
- Press the bead's own mesh into the wet adhesive along the curve.
- Straight away, cover that mesh with the system's facade mesh, lapped 10 cm over it.
- Let the adhesive dry, then render.
Steps two and three are one operation, not two: both meshes have to end up in the same layer of adhesive. The bead goes on the outer part of the facade and is never fixed with PU foam. It cuts with technical shears for plastics, tin snips, a knife or a fine-tooth hand saw; wear gloves and goggles, because of the glass fibre.
The bedding adhesive comes from the adhesive and basecoat range, and the lapped layer from the reinforcing mesh rolls, chosen to match the render system on the wall. Where the arch meets straight corners, reveals and sills, the guide to render details at windows and doors covers how the profiles meet, and the corner bead installation guide covers the corner work itself.
How Many 2.5 m Lengths an Arch Takes
Measure the curved edge itself, not the width of the opening. For a semicircular head the edge is half a circle. Two examples:
- a head 2 m wide has a 1 m radius, so its edge is π × 1 m = about 3.14 m: two lengths;
- a head 1.2 m wide has a 0.6 m radius, so its edge is π × 0.6 m = about 1.9 m: one length.
A flatter arch has a shorter edge than a half circle of the same width, so measure it with a tape laid along the curve. Every arch is a run of its own, and the offcut from one head serves the next only where it is long enough.
Mesh Arch, Plain Arch or Straight Corner
The guide to which bead goes on which detail sets out the whole wall. For the three corner profiles closest to this one, the choice runs like this:
| Corner | Profile |
|---|---|
| Curved, on EPS or wool insulation | This bead, with mesh |
| Curved, no mesh wing needed | Plain PVC arch, white |
| Straight, on insulation | Straight PVC corner with mesh |
What to Confirm Before a Large Order
- Code on the label: the item is sold without the BP10 S code in its title, and the shop photograph is a drawing that does not match the maker's own pictures in every detail. Where a specification names the BP10 S, ring Renders World on 023 8200 2442 and confirm the label before the order goes in.
- Radius: the maker gives no minimum radius, so a very tight curve is worth a trial length first.
- Documents: the maker's documents are Polish: the national technical assessment ITB-KOT-2017/0249, edition 3 of 21 October 2024, valid to 21 October 2029, and the national declaration of performance DWU 6/2024. The technical sheet names no UK certificate, UKCA marking or fire class.
Ordering, Delivery and Returns
Renders World processes orders the same day when the stock is there. Put the arched corner bead with mesh in the same basket as the adhesive and mesh it is bedded in.
- Delivery: quoted by the team after the order; parcels up to 25 kg go next day, always kerbside.
- Collection: from the counter at Unit 9A, Central Trading Estate, Southampton SO14 5JP, Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm and Saturday 7am to 12pm.
- Returns: goods bought directly from Renders World can go back within 14 days in their original condition; special orders and promotion purchases are excluded.
FAQ
How long is one length?
Each arched corner bead with mesh here is 2.5 m long. Bella Plast also makes the BP10 S in 3 m, which is not the length sold here.
Does the bead's mesh replace the facade mesh at the corner?
No. The maker asks for the system's facade mesh to be laid over the bead's mesh with a 10 cm lap, in the same adhesive and in the same pass.
Can it be fixed with PU foam?
No. The maker does not allow polyurethane foam for fixing this bead; it is bedded in the mesh adhesive.
Which insulation boards is it for?
EPS and mineral wool, in an insulation system finished with a thin-coat render. The maker names it for external arched corners only.
How tight a curve can it follow?
The maker publishes no minimum radius. On a tight arch, try one length on the curve before ordering for the whole job.
