Description
This render expansion bead is a white bead in the 15 mm size, sold in 2.5 m lengths. It is set into a render coat to form a planned joint. Renders World keeps expansion beads in two sizes, this 15 mm bead and a 10 mm white expansion bead, both ready for same-day dispatch when in stock.
Where a Render Expansion Bead Goes
An expansion bead, also called a movement bead, is set into the render wherever the wall needs a joint: over a movement joint in the structure behind, and where the render runs from one background onto another. Across those lines the wall will move whatever the render does, and a crack that has nowhere planned to go finds its own route. An expansion bead gives that movement a straight, deliberate line instead.
The joints are decided by the wall, not by the bead. Mark them on the elevation before ordering, then run an expansion bead along each one from edge to edge of the render.

How Many Lengths to Order
Add up the run of every joint you have marked, divide by 2.5 m and round each run up to whole lengths, never down to a part length. Count each joint separately, because an offcut from a short run rarely lands where the next joint needs it.
If you are unsure whether the 15 mm or the 10 mm render expansion bead suits your build-up, call the counter on 023 8200 2442 before you order.
Beads That Finish the Same Wall
An expansion bead handles the joints in the middle of a wall. The edges and corners of the same render coat need their own profiles: stop beads for render edges where the render meets another material, and corner beads on outside corners. The method for setting edge beads is in the stop bead installation guide, and the guide to why render cracks and how to prevent it covers the wider causes. Every bead and mesh the shop carries is in beads and mesh, and the full shelf is in all rendering products.
Ordering and Returns
Renders World processes orders the same day when the beads are in stock. After you order, the team contacts you with the most cost-effective delivery: parcels up to 25 kg go next day, pallets next day or in two business days on the economy service, always to the kerb. You can also collect in person from Unit 9A, Central Trading Estate, Southampton SO14 5JP, Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm and Saturday 7am to 12pm. Beads you change your mind about go back within 14 days in their original condition — see cancellations and returns.
Expansion Bead 15 mm — Questions
Is an expansion bead the same as a movement bead?
Yes. Both names are used in the trade for the bead that forms a planned joint in render.
Which sizes do you stock?
Two: this 15 mm bead and a 10 mm bead, both white and both in 2.5 m lengths.
What length does one bead come in?
Each one is a single 2.5 m length, so order by the total run of your joints.
Can I collect instead of waiting for delivery?
Yes — from the Southampton counter during opening hours.
