Description
The BP17 PVC plaster screed 8mm is a white PVC plastering guide made by Bella Plast: a strip 8 mm high and 3 m long that is glued to the wall before you plaster. Your straightedge runs along the strips, so the coat between them finishes level at their height, and the strips stay in the wall once the plaster has set. It is made for plastering inside rooms.
Where the PVC Plaster Screed 8mm Is Used
Bella Plast makes the BP17 for levelling interior plaster while the coat is drawn off with a straightedge. The 8 mm height is the deeper of its two sizes, for walls that need a thicker coat to come out true.
- interior walls in new builds and renovations, plastered by hand;
- system concrete walls and aerated (cellular) concrete walls, where the maker singles the guide out as especially useful;
- rooms with raised humidity, which Bella Plast also lists for the BP17.
Why a PVC Plastering Guide
- No rust in the wall. White PVC leaves no stains or dirty streaks in the finished plaster, which steel guides can do.
- It can stay where it is. Once the wall is plastered, the strips remain in the coat — there is nothing to pull out and fill.
- Cuts to length on site. Shorten a strip for a low wall, a window head or the space above a door.
- Arrives straight. PVC does not bend for good in transport or storage the way steel guides can, so a strip that reaches site straight sets a straight line.

Fitting the Strips
- Plan where the strips go: Bella Plast sets the spacing by the levelling float or straightedge you will use, so each pass of the tool rests on two strips.
- Glue each strip to the wall in several places, setting it level and plumb as you go.
- Let the glued spots dry before the first coat goes on.
- Plaster between the strips and draw the coat off along them with the straightedge.
- Leave the strips in the plaster.
To work out how many lengths to order, count the strips across each wall at your spacing; a strip covers a wall up to 3 m high in one piece.
6 mm, 8 mm or a 10 mm Strip?
Pick the height by the depth of coat you plan to lay, because the finished plaster comes out at the height of the strip.
| Strip | Height | Length |
|---|---|---|
| BP17 8 mm (this strip) | 8 mm | 3 m |
| BP17 6 mm PVC plastering guide | 6 mm | 3 m |
| W6 6 mm plastering strip | 6 mm | 2.5 m |
| W10 10 mm plastering strip | 10 mm | 2.5 m |
Choose the PVC plaster screed 8mm when the wall needs a deeper correction; for a thinner coat on a wall that is already close to true, the 6 mm BP17 does the same job. For a coat deeper than 8 mm, the W10 strip sets 10 mm. Outside corners of the room take an aluminium wet plaster corner, and the rest of the plastering and rendering shelf is on everything for rendering and plastering.

FAQ — BP17 8 mm Plaster Screed
Do the strips stay in the wall?
Yes. Bella Plast designs the BP17 to remain in the plaster, so you plaster over the line and leave it.
How do I fix it before plastering?
Glue it to the wall in several places while you set it level and plumb, then wait for the glued spots to dry before you start the coat.
How far apart should the strips go?
Close enough that your levelling float or straightedge always rests on two strips at once — the spacing follows the tool you use.
Can I use it for render on an outside wall?
No. BP17 is an interior plastering guide. External render work uses render beads made for that job.
