Description
The UD27 is the metal channel that runs round the walls of a plasterboard suspended ceiling. Fixed along the wall, it holds the ends of the CD60 ceiling profiles, so the frame of the ceiling is held at every wall. Each length is 4 m. It sits in the drylining range beside the profiles, hangers and connectors that build the rest of the frame.
What the UD27 Profile Does
- It is the perimeter channel. It goes along the walls of the room, and the ends of the ceiling profiles sit inside it.
- A U-shaped section. The side walls are ribbed and the back of the channel is punched with holes along its length.
- 4 m lengths. One length covers 4 m of wall, so a whole room takes only a few.
- One frame, one range. The CD60 main profiles, the ES60 and WKK hangers and the CD60 connectors in the same range make up the rest of the ceiling.

How It Fits Into a Suspended Ceiling
A suspended plasterboard ceiling built from the Renders World range has a few parts, and this channel is the one that ties the frame to the walls.
- The wall channels go round the room, at the height the ceiling will hang.
- CD60 main profiles span the room, hung from the structure above on ES60 hangers or, in attics and roof spaces, on the WKK hanger.
- The ends of the CD60 profiles sit in the wall channel, so the grid is held at every wall.
- Where one CD60 length is not enough, a CD60 longitudinal connector joins two; a two-level grid uses the CD60 cross connector.
- The plasterboard is then screwed to the CD60 profiles with drywall screws.
Working Out How Many Lengths
Add up the walls of the room the ceiling will cover, then divide by the length of one UD27.
- a room 4 m by 3 m has 14 m of wall, so four lengths cover it, with 2 m left over for cuts;
- a room 5 m by 4 m has 18 m of wall, so it takes five lengths.

FAQ
What is a UD27 profile used for?
It is the channel fixed round the walls of a plasterboard suspended ceiling. The ends of the CD60 ceiling profiles sit in it, so the frame is held at the walls.
Which profile goes into the UD27?
The CD60 main ceiling profile, which Renders World sells in 4 m and 3 m lengths.
How long is each UD27?
4 m. Add up the walls of the room to see how many you need: a 4 m by 3 m room takes four.
What holds the ceiling up between the walls?
Hangers on the CD60 profiles: ES60 hangers in 75, 125, 175 and 225 sizes, or the WKK 200 mm hanger in attics and roof spaces. Ceiling suspension wires with a hook are in the range too.
What fixes the plasterboard to the frame?
Drywall screws into the CD60 profiles, such as the KSSG 3.5 x 25 mm; 35 mm and 45 mm lengths are also stocked.
