What a Reinforced Polystyrene Rasp 270 mm Is For
Instar made it for levelling the joints of polystyrene boards during insulation work. It also evens out the unevenness left by bonding or cutting the boards, so facade work goes faster and the surface comes out smooth and ready for the next stages, such as reinforcing mesh or rendering. It works on other soft materials too, for example expanding foam or low-density mineral wool. Five things describe it:
- Lattice — reinforced, so the whole float stays rigid and you can make firm strokes without the risk of it cracking.
- Holes — large through-holes carry the rasped material away, so it does not clog and you work without stopping to clean it.
- Rasp plate — galvanised sheet with sharp, densely spaced holes for precise, fast sanding of polystyrene.
- Body — plastic, solid and resistant to mechanical damage and heavy use.
- Handle — two-component, ergonomic and anti-slip, for a safe grip and comfort even in long work. It is welded to the base, and the plate is crimped onto that base.
