Description
This 25mm masking tape is Blue Dolphin Washi-25 mm wide and 50 m long, orange washi paper with an acrylic adhesive. Blue Dolphin makes it for car refinishing and auto-detailing, so it lies ultra-flat and leaves a sharp paint line. It is stocked with the masking and site tapes at Renders World.
Why Pick the 25 mm Width
Washi-XF7 comes in three widths. All three rolls are 40 m long and share the same paper, adhesive and heat rating, so the width is the only choice you make:
Take this 25mm masking tape when the strip you need to cover is narrow; reach for a wider roll when one pass has to cover more.
What This 25mm Masking Tape Is Made Of
- Backing — washi paper, 80 µm thick (± 15 %); the maker calls this masking tape ultra-flat.
- Adhesive — acrylic, with adhesion to steel at 180° of at least 2 N per 2.5 cm.
- Strength — tensile strength of 80 N per 2.5 cm (± 15 %).
- Heat — -10 °C to +80 °C over 60 days, and up to 140 °C for one hour.
- Colour — orange.
Where It Works and Where It Does Not
The maker lists three basic uses for this masking tape:
- Painting.
- Lacquered surfaces.
- Glass, plastic and metal.
Most often the masking tape goes onto a surface that is already painted or primed.
Two limits apply. Long use on solvent-based lacquers and on oiled surfaces is not recommended. This 18mm masking tape is not for live electrical parts, and not for holding, joining or stiffening damaged, moving or load-bearing parts. On render or brick, use the orange rendering tape instead.
Using It Step by Step
- Check the conditions. Apply between +18 °C and +25 °C, on a surface that is clean, dry and free of grease, oil, detergent and other dirt.
- Try a short piece first. Clean removal changes with the surface, the temperature, sun and humidity, and the paint, so test the masking tape before you tape the whole edge.
- Peel promptly. Take the tape off as soon as the paint has dried, pulling slowly at 45°.
- Use each strip once. The masking tape is single use; spent tape goes out as mixed waste.
