Description

This Blue Dolphin orange render tape masks edges on rough walls — brick, stone, concrete and render — while render or facade paint goes on, and comes away clean once the coat has dried. The roll is 48 mm wide and 50 m long, with a polyethylene and synthetic-mesh backing that tears by hand, along and across. It is one of the site tapes in the Renders World tape range.

What You Get With This Orange Render Tape

  • Made for rough surfaces. The adhesive works into the texture of render, brick, stone and concrete, where smooth paper masking tape quickly loses its hold.
  • A strong backing. Polyethylene with a synthetic mesh, 200 µm thick, it takes a knock from a float, a trowel or coarse aggregate.
  • Waterproof. It keeps hold in site moisture and changing weather.
  • Tears by hand. It tears along and across without a knife, so nothing sharp goes near window frames or seals.
  • Clean removal. Taken off at the right moment, it leaves no adhesive on the wall.
  • Bright orange. The bright colour makes the tape easy to spot on a facade.

How to Use It

Most masking failures on a facade start at the edge of the tape, so the preparation for orange render tape is short but it matters.

  1. Make sure the surface is clean, dry and free of grease, oil and detergent; brush off loose dust. Porous walls such as render should be sound, with old coatings removed, and primed.
  2. Lay the tape within the application temperature Blue Dolphin gives: +18 to +25 °C.
  3. Stick a length and press the edge down firmly along its whole run, so wet render cannot creep under it. Do not stretch it round corners.
  4. Take it off once the coat has set — as soon as paint has dried — pulling slowly back at 45°. Pulled before the coat sets, or left on too long, the edge frays and is harder to finish.

Blue Dolphin asks for a trial first: how cleanly the tape comes off depends on the surface, the weather (temperature, sun and humidity) and the paint used.

Where It Goes

  • Window and door frames, sills and architectural details masked before rendering.
  • The line where one render texture meets another, or one facade colour meets the next, kept clean on both sides.
  • Brick, stone, concrete and render — the rough surfaces this tape is made for.

It masks; it does not seal. It is no substitute for the sealing tapes of an insulation system, and it is not for live electrical parts or for joining or stiffening damaged, moving or load-bearing elements.

How Far One Roll Goes

One roll of orange render tape is 50 m. Add up the edges to be masked:

  • a window 1.2 m by 1.2 m has a 4.8 m frame, so one roll masks about ten such windows;
  • a door 0.9 m by 2.1 m takes 5.1 m of tape on its three sides.

Storage and Safety

  • Storage — in the original pack, somewhere cool and dry (no more than 21 °C and 50 % humidity) and out of direct sun.
  • Shelf life — use it within 12 months of dispatch.
  • Safety — the tape is flammable and single-use, made for trained, professional use; keep it away from open flame and heat.
  • Disposal — with mixed waste.

Ordering, Delivery and Returns

  • Dispatch — Renders World sends orders out the same day when the stock is there, so order the tape with the render it masks for.
  • Delivery — the team quotes it after the order; parcels up to 25 kg travel next day and every delivery is kerbside.
  • Collection — at the counter, Unit 9A, Central Trading Estate, Southampton SO14 5JP: Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm, Saturday 7am to 12pm.
  • Returns — goods bought directly from Renders World can come back within 14 days in original condition; special orders and promotion purchases are excluded.

FAQ

What is orange render tape used for?

Orange render tape masks edges on rough walls while render or facade paint goes on: window and door frames, sills, details, and the line where one texture or colour meets the next.

Will it stick to brick and rough render?

Yes. It is made for rough surfaces — render, brick, stone and concrete — and its adhesive works into the texture, where paper masking tape lets go.

When should the tape come off?

Once the coat has set, or as soon as the paint has dried. Pull it slowly back at 45°; too early or too late, and the edge frays.

What temperature does it need?

Blue Dolphin gives +18 to +25 °C for laying the tape; once on, it is rated from −5 to +60 °C.

Is it waterproof?

Yes. Blue Dolphin lists it as waterproof, and it keeps hold in site moisture and changing weather.

Can I use it on plasterboard joints?

No — it is a masking tape. For plasterboard joints, Renders World stocks flizelina tape, bedded in filler.
