The working for the first row: £59.50 ÷ 25 kg = £2.38 per kg, × 2.2 kg/m² = £5.24 per m². At that rate one bucket covers 25 ÷ 2.2 = 11.4 m². The spread across the whole range is £5.24 to £7.20 per square metre — a difference of under £2 between the cheapest and the most specialised finish, which is worth holding in mind before value-engineering the render line.
Two figures move that arithmetic more than the bucket price does. Machine application on the Atlas renders drops consumption to 1.9 kg/m², taking the white and grey bases to roughly £4.52 per m². And on a certified Atlas/Aval EPS build-up, BBA Certificate 13/5018 states coverage of 2.5 to 3.5 kg/m² for the same render rather than the sheet's 2.2 — which lifts the material line to £5.95–£8.33 per m². Monocouche Material Cost, and Why It Is Absent
Weber publishes finished thicknesses for weberpral M — 18 mm applied and scraped back to 15 mm, or 15 to 25 mm sprayed roughcast — and states a shelf life of 12 months, but the technical datasheet carrying the consumption rate in kilograms per square metre would not load from either the Weber site or its BBA mirror. Without a consumption rate, no monocouche material cost per square metre can be calculated, and a bag price alone would not produce one. That figure is therefore omitted rather than estimated. The 250 m² row is worth reading twice. At 22 buckets exactly, there is no rounding headroom at all, so a single mis-measured elevation means an extra order at a different batch date — which on a tinted render is a shade risk as much as a cost one. Order the spare bucket with the main delivery rather than after it.
Reducing Cost Without Cutting the Specification
The savings that survive scrutiny come from method and sequencing, not from downgrading the finish. Each of the following is supported by a figure already established above.
- Machine-apply where the elevation allows it. The Atlas renders drop from 2.2 to 1.9 kg/m² by machine, taking material from £5.24 to roughly £4.52 per m² — a 14% saving on the finish-coat line, delivered by method rather than by product substitution.
- Match the product to the elevation, not to the whole building. CT 76 at £6.05–£7.20 per m² earns its premium on a bright, sun-exposed aspect through its UV-absorber package. On a sheltered north elevation that chemistry is not doing work, and the standard Atlas base at £5.24 is the honest specification.
- Budget to the right coverage figure from the start. The gap between the sheet rate and the certificate rate is up to £3.09 per m² on the same product. Establishing which one governs before ordering avoids the mid-project top-up that costs more than the difference.
- Order each elevation in one delivery. Single-batch ordering is free, and it removes the shade-variation risk that a partial re-order introduces on any tinted finish.
