Fox Diamento Carbon 1L, Decorative Wall Paint with a Sparkling Diamond Effect

Fox Diamento Carbon is a ready-to-use decorative wall paint that gives interior walls and ceilings the look of sparkling diamond flecks. Renders World sells it in a 1 l tub from our Fox Dekorator decorative paints, and Carbon is the colour shown in the photos. Diamento is water-based, dries in about 2 hours and leaves a gloss finish that stands up to repeated washing.

The Fox Diamento Carbon Effect and Where It Fits

Diamento is made for decorative painting of walls and ceilings inside buildings, in modern and classic rooms. The maker recommends it especially for rooms, living rooms and corridors in homes, and for restaurant and conference rooms, hotel halls and corridors.

• Quick effect — the time needed to make the effect is very short, and the paint is easy to apply with a roller.
• Washable — it is resistant to repeated washing.
• Ready to use — it needs no extra preparation.

The final look depends on how you apply the paint and on the lighting in the room. This is the Diamento line; Diamento 3D is a separate line, and the Diamento 3D version in Carbon has its own page.

Preparing the Wall

Repair any cracks and other defects before you paint, so that the wall is stable, dry, clean and even. Clear away dust, dirt, wax, grease and anything that weakens adhesion. The colour of the wall should be close to the colour of the effect.

Diamento suits cement-lime and cement plasters, concrete, unrendered walls of ceramic or silicate blocks, brick and aerated concrete, gypsum plasters, skims and fillers, polymer skims, plasterboard and OSB, paper, vinyl and glass-fibre wallpapers, and silicate, silicone and acrylic paint coats.

• Fresh cement-lime plaster — paint after 3-4 weeks.
• Fresh concrete — paint after about 1 month.
• Fresh gypsum plaster — paint after 2 weeks.
• Old painted walls — if the paint is well bonded, degrease it by washing with water and detergent and let it dry. Remove old distemper and other weakly bonded layers thoroughly.
• Old absorbent walls — prime the wall, then paint it with the Initium Color undercoat. Apply Diamento once the undercoat is dry, after 3-4 hours.
• Mouldy areas — clean them and protect them with Atlas Mykos Plus.

Applying Diamento

• Mix — the paint is ready to use, so do not thin it with water. Mix the tub thoroughly before you start.
• Test — try the technique on a test surface first.
• First coat — apply it crosswise with a string roller. You can smooth the coat gently as you go to keep the effect even.
• Second coat — once the first coat is dry, after about 3 hours, apply a second coat the same way. It softens shading and gives a more uniform effect.
• Conditions — keep the paint, the wall and the air between +5 °C and +25 °C while you work and while the paint dries, with relative humidity below 80%.
• Clean-up — wash tools with water and detergent straight after use, before the paint dries.

For a larger wall in Fox Diamento Carbon, use tubs from one production batch or mix the contents of all the tubs in one container.
