Fox Bonding Primer 3kg Grit Primer for Plaster and Tiles

Fox Bonding Primer is a ready-to-use grit primer for indoor walls and ceilings, here in a 3 kg tub. Made on polymer resins and quartz flours, it carries fine aggregate that dries to a rough, gripping surface, so the plaster, structural paint or tile adhesive that follows has something to hold on to. Fox Dekorator calls it Grunt Sczepny, and it sits with the rest of the Fox range in our Fox Dekorator collection.

What This Grit Primer Does

• Gives the next coat a key. The quartz aggregate leaves a rough face that plaster and decorative finishes grip and texture easily.
• Bonds both ways. It sticks firmly to the background and to the plaster laid over it.
• Calms thirsty walls. It cuts absorbency and strengthens the surface, so the next material spreads evenly.
• Evens out the background colour. Patched areas no longer show through as different shades under the next coat.
• One coat, straight from the tub. Stir, then roll or brush it on undiluted.

Fox Bonding Primer 3 kg: Technical Data

Drying times are for about 23 °C and 55 % humidity; in a colder or damper room allow longer.

Backgrounds It Suits

This grit primer is made for interior walls and ceilings in homes, public and healthcare buildings, schools, shops and offices, industrial and farm buildings and transport buildings. It goes onto:

• cement and cement-lime plaster;
• concrete, cast in place or precast;
• bare walls of ceramic or silicate blocks, brick and aerated concrete;
• gypsum plaster, skims and fillers, including polymer-based ones;
• plasterboard and OSB.

How to Apply the Grit Primer

1. Make sure the background is load-bearing, seasoned and air-dry, and clean off dust, dirt, lime, oil, grease and old paint that would weaken the bond.
2. Sheet over floors, frames and anything nearby: once dry, the primer is hard to get off.
3. Stir the primer thoroughly. Do not dilute it.
4. Roll or brush one thin, even coat over the whole area.
5. Wash rollers and brushes in clean water straight after use, before the primer dries on them.
6. Plaster, tile or paint once it has dried, after 4–6 hours.

How Far a 3 kg Tub Goes

Fox gives about 7 m² per kilo. A rough or very absorbent wall, the finish you plan and your own technique all move that figure. For a small patch, the Fox Bonding Primer 1 kg does about 7 m².
