Description
This Blue Dolphin flizelina is a white glass-fibre fleece tape, 50 mm wide and 25 m on the roll, made to reinforce plasterboard joints and repairs in plaster and skim, so the finish stays whole. It goes into a fresh coat of gypsum filler, is pressed flat and covered, and the joint is then ready for paint or paper. It is one of the site tapes in the Renders World tape range.

How the Tape Goes On
Flizelina is bedded in filler, not stuck on dry. The filler is what holds it, so the order of work matters.
- Make sure the surface is clean, dry and free of grease, oil and detergent. Porous surfaces such as plaster should be sound, with old coatings removed, and primed.
- Spread a coat of gypsum filler along the joint or the repair.
- Lay the tape into the fresh filler and press it down; take off the excess filler with a spatula.
- Apply a second coat of filler over the tape and finish to the filler maker's instructions.
Blue Dolphin asks for a trial before the tape goes on a whole job. One taped joint, left to dry and checked, answers it.
Where It Goes
- Plasterboard joints, where it reinforces the joint and limits cracking, also where the structure is under stress.
- Openings cut in plasterboard, where the tape keeps the gypsum coat around them whole.
- Repairs to split or scratched plaster and skim on walls and ceilings, taped before painting or papering.
It is not for moving or load-bearing parts, for joining or stiffening damaged elements, or for anything live with electricity.
How Far One Roll Goes
One roll of flizelina is 25 m. Count the joints and cracks to be taped and add up their lengths.
- a full-height joint on a 2.4 m wall uses 2.4 m, so a roll covers 10 such joints with a little to spare;
- a 12 m run of ceiling joints is about half a roll.
Storage and Safety
- Storage — in the original pack, somewhere cool and dry (no more than 21 °C and 50 % humidity) and out of direct sun.
- Shelf life — use it within 12 months of dispatch.
- Safety — the tape is flammable and single-use; keep it away from open flame and heat.
- Disposal — with mixed waste.
