Description

The Easyboard cement board 2400 x 1200 is the full-size sheet of Euroform's Easyboard: a fibre cement board faced with reinforcing mesh, made to sheathe the outside of a framed wall. Renders World sells it with a smaller sheet of the same board and a board screw in its rendering cement boards.

The Cement Board 2400 x 1200 Sheet

Each sheet is one Easyboard cement board at full size. Three points decide an order before anything else:

  • Coverage: 2.4 m × 1.2 m = 2.88 m² of wall per sheet, before cuts and offcuts.
  • Weight: 39.6 kg per sheet ex-production, within 10 % either way.
  • Face and edges: mesh reinforcing facings, with a taper along the two long edges of the outer face.

Euroform publishes the full parameter table for the board:

Parameter Value Tolerance
Reaction to fire (BS EN 13501-1) A1, non-combustible –
Durability and strength (BS EN 12467) Category B, Class 1 –
Thickness 12.5 mm ± 10 %
Width 1200 mm ± 0.3 %
Length 2400 mm ± 5 mm
Straightness of edges ≤ 0.1 % –
Squareness of edges ≤ 4 mm/m –
Dimensional stability, 30 % to 80 % RH at 20 °C < 0.1 % –
Average wet bending strength ≥ 4 MPa –
Apparent density 900 kg/m³ minimum
Saturated density 1225 kg/m³ ± 10 %
Thermal conductivity 0.22 W/mK –
Moisture content 10 % ± 2.5
Weight per sheet, ex-production 39.6 kg ± 10 %

The board is conformity assessed to BS EN 12467:2012+A2:2018, the standard for fibre cement flat sheets. A1 is the class of the board on its own; on a finished wall the class that counts belongs to the whole build-up, and that is confirmed for the project under current Approved Document B guidance.

What Euroform Makes the Board For

Euroform names two uses for Easyboard:

  • Exterior sheathing to SFS walling: the use its data sheet is written around.
  • Tile backing: the second use listed on its product page.

As a sheathing board the cement board goes behind a breather membrane, and it is not relied on to keep moisture out. Euroform states that the board has been tested in built systems by customers and system suppliers, renders among them, and sends questions about performance on a specific project to its technical team. It publishes no render build-up of its own, so the layers that go over the board, render included, come from the render system's specification. Settle that build-up before the boards are ordered.

Fixing and Cutting the Sheet

Euroform's installation notes for the external sheathing application set these rules:

  • Fixings: self-drilling screws, with the first fixing from a corner 40 mm in from the edge, horizontally and vertically.
  • Joints: a gap of at least 3 mm at every joint for movement with humidity, boards laid in brick bond, and no four-way joints.
  • Offcuts: no board narrower than 600 mm; boards go up in portrait or landscape.

Below and within 150 mm of DPC level a compatible waterproofing membrane goes on, and EPDM membranes go around other places water can get in, such as window openings. Once fixed, the board may stand uncovered for up to 12 months before a breather membrane or similar goes over it.

The joints are covered with Euroform's own joint tape or sealant, which Renders World does not stock, so source it with the boards. The sheet cuts by score and snap: score the face against a straight edge, open the joint with pressure on the cut piece, then run the knife back along the line to cut the mesh on the reverse. For the screw, the 38 mm fixings sold with the boards are made by STS for its own 12 mm board, and STS states they suit other fibre cement sheet as well. How the boards are fixed and rendered on a frame, step by step, is covered in the guide to fixing and rendering over cement board.

Storage and Handling on Site

  • Delivery: boards arrive dry, with the pallet protected from the weather under plastic sheeting or similar.
  • Storage: flat, dry pallets raised on skids or battens clear of the ground; kept under cover or indoors when they stay on site for a long time.
  • Carrying: moved by hand in a vertical position.

The Full Sheet or the 1200 x 800 Sheet

The same Easyboard comes in two sizes, both 12.5 mm and both with the same parameter table:

  • 2400 x 1200: this cement board 2400 x 1200 sheet, 2.88 m² and 39.6 kg.
  • 1200 x 800: the smaller 1200 x 800 sheet, 1.2 m × 0.8 m = 0.96 m² at 13.2 kg.

Ordering, Delivery and Returns

Renders World processes orders the same day when the stock is there. Order the screws in the same basket as the boards they fix.

  • Delivery: quoted by the team after the order, always kerbside. At 39.6 kg a single sheet is past the 25 kg small-parcel limit; pallets up to 1200 kg go next day, or in two business days on the economy option.
  • Collection: from the counter at Unit 9A, Central Trading Estate, Southampton SO14 5JP, Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm and Saturday 7am to 12pm.
  • Returns: goods bought directly from Renders World can go back within 14 days in their original condition; special orders and promotion purchases are excluded.

FAQ

Can render go straight onto Easyboard?

Euroform gives no render build-up for the board. It describes Easyboard as a sheathing board behind a breather membrane and states it has been tested in built systems that included renders, so take the build-up from the render system's specification.

How many sheets does a wall take?

One cement board 2400 x 1200 covers 2.88 m². Divide the wall area by 2.88 and round up, then add the cuts around openings, keeping every cut piece at least 600 mm wide.

Does it need a saw?

No. It is scored and snapped with a utility knife, with the mesh on the back cut through on the second pass.

How long can it stay uncovered?

Up to 12 months once installed, before a breather membrane or similar goes over it.

Is the board non-combustible?

Yes: A1 to BS EN 13501-1 for the board itself. The rating of the finished wall depends on the whole build-up.

Which documents come with the board?

Euroform issues a BDA Agrément certificate (BAW-22-260-P-A-UK), CE and UKCA Declarations of Performance and product safety information on request.
