Laying the Sheet

The maker's four steps for protecting a room before painting:

1. Prepare — clean and dry the surface, so the sheet lies flat and stays put.
2. Lay with spare — spread the foil with enough extra to fold over at the edges.
3. Fix the edges — hold them down at skirtings, door frames and openings; a tape from the masking tapes range does this job.
4. Check the corners — dust most often escapes there, so look at the seal before work starts.
