Description

The Atlas Hydroband 3G sealing tape is a tanking tape for the joints a liquid waterproofing coat cannot bridge on its own: where the wall meets the floor, along movement and construction joints, and across work gaps. This listing is the 125 mm wide tape in a 10 m roll, printed with a measuring scale and perforated. It is set into an Atlas Woder coat and sits with the rest of our waterproofing and tanking products.

Why Joints Need Tanking Tape

A brushed waterproofing coat is strong across a flat wall or floor, but it can split where two surfaces meet and move in different ways. Tanking tape bridges that line, so the seal holds when the wall and the floor screed shift against each other.

  • Stretches across the joint. Crosswise it elongates by 335 % at maximum force, and it stays watertight while it moves.
  • Built in three layers. A thermoplastic elastomer core sits between two faces of alkali-resistant polypropylene fleece, which the Woder coat wets and grips.
  • Thin. The whole tape is about 0.7 mm thick.
  • Holds back water under pressure. It resists 1.5 bar, equal to a 15 m column of water.
  • Takes harsh conditions. It is rated from -30 °C to +90 °C, resists alkalis and dilute acids, and copes with frost, moisture and UV.

Where to Run It

Run the tanking tape along every line that could open up under the waterproofing:

  • the junction between walls and the floor screed;
  • movement joints, including construction joints;
  • work gaps left between one pour or board and the next.

Indoors that means bathrooms, showers, kitchens and wash rooms, above all the splash zones around shower trays, basins, baths and sinks. Outdoors and below ground it covers balconies, terraces, cellars, water tanks, underground garages and manholes. It is worth the extra step on materials that suffer when they get wet: gypsum boards and plaster, anhydrite screeds, aircrete and OSB.

It goes onto cement, cement-lime and gypsum plasters, cement and anhydrite screeds, concrete and reinforced concrete, brick, hollow block and block walls, plasterboard and OSB.

Which Hydroband Piece and How Much

Measure every joint you plan to tape, including the vertical joints between walls in the shower, and add the lengths together. Each roll gives you 10 m; round up to whole rolls. Renders World stocks the shorter and longer lengths below as well.

You are sealing Take
Long straight joints in one or two rooms This 10 m roll
A short repair or one tray edge Hydroband 3G tape in a 1 m length
Several rooms or a whole project the 50 m box
An inside corner where walls and floor meet the Hydroband 3G internal corner
An outside corner, such as a boxed-in pipe the Hydroband 3G external corner

Atlas makes the tape in two widths: 125 mm with a printed scale and perforation, sold in 10 m and 50 m rolls, and 250 mm without either, in 10 m rolls. The corners are heat-formed from the same tape, and tape and corners make up one set for sealing wet areas.

Fitting It Into the Coat

  1. Prepare the base as the Woder data sheet asks: clean, free of dust, free of lime milk and other dirt.
  2. Coat a band of Atlas Woder E or Atlas Woder Duo along the joint.
  3. Lay the tape into the wet band straight away and press it flat.
  4. Once every joint and corner is done, coat the whole area with the same product you used for the first band.
  5. At balcony and terrace drip edges, floor drains, linear drains and gullies, cover the tape across its full width. Everywhere else, covering its edges is enough.

FAQ

How wide is the tape on the 10 m roll?

125 mm, with a printed scale and perforation along the roll.

Does the whole tape need covering with waterproofing?

Only its edges in most places. Cover it across the full width at drip edges, floor drains, linear drains and gullies.

Which waterproofing coat does it go into?

Atlas Woder E or Woder Duo. Lay the tape into the fresh coat, then finish with the same product.

Can I use it on a balcony or in a cellar?

Yes. Atlas lists balconies, terraces, cellars, water tanks and underground garages, and the tape resists frost, moisture and UV.

What do I use in the corners?

The Hydroband 3G internal and external corners, made from the same tape, so the joints and corners form one seal.

How much tape do I need for a bathroom?

Add up the wall-to-floor joint and the wall-to-wall joints in the wet zone, then order one roll for every 10 m.
